Denver’s Botanic Gardens at York Street proudly offers the city’s first publicly accessible green roof.  This incredible demonstration of a peaceful agreement between human and nature is the first green roof on a city owned building in Denver.  It’s a fantastic demonstration of the benefit of this unique habitat. This hotspot isn’t just great for the birds, insects, and wildlife it attracts; it also poses great positive outcomes for the building itself.

Mount Goliath

If you’re looking for some adventure from the Denver Botanic Gardens, head to the Mount Goliath location. Mount Goliath is a mountain peak section of Mount Evans. Set within the Arapahoe National Forest, its situation about 17 miles from Idaho Springs.

This first hand contact with nature gives you a chance to admire the real raw beauty of Colorado’s wildlife.  Keep your eyes open for some local favorites including chiming bells, purple fringe, forget-me-nots, and awing views of the Rocky Mountains. This is a whole new twist on a botanic garden, but to enjoy it fully, make sure you’re wearing appropriate footwear.

Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield

Wanting to see more than just plants? Head to the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. This nature preserve on the grasslands of Deer Creek offers a variety of exciting facilities to keep all visitors entertained. There are fantastic nature trails and one of the favorite parts about this for most is the wildlife observation area where people can catch a glimpse of native birds. 

After you’ve begun your exploration of this Denver Botanic spot, be sure to visit the historical farm and check out the working beehives. If all that isn’t enough for your kids, bring them to the Deer Creek Discovery center for kids. No need to rush through, because the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield has plenty to offer for a full day of fun.
